Young Dentists

The west of Scotland branch of the BDA supports young dentists as they make their careers in the profession. Our  former Young Dentist Rep Ayesha Mobarik explains why she joined the BDA.

I joined the BDA west of Scotland branch committee as a representative for young and recently qualified dentists. The west of Scotland branch arranges regular educational events, with highly sought after speakers delivering talks on a wide range of subjects. In addition, the branch members meet on a regular basis to discuss issues and challenges facing dentists, and how these can be addressed.

Following five years of dental school, where there is a lot of support from mentors and your peers, the world of work as an associate or a hospital based dentist can sometimes feel isolated. By joining the BDA and coming along to branch meetings, you have the opportunity to network, share and discuss topics with other colleagues, including other young dentists and those with many years of experience.  Lecture topics cover a wide range of dental specialities which will help you to keep up to date, further your dental knowledge and count towards verifiable CPD.
