Annual General Meeting

14 April 2021

Russ Ladwa presidential photo

The Annual General Meeting of the West of Scotland branch took place on 14 April and featured a very personal address from the BDA’s President Russ Ladwa.

The event was for BDA members only and was followed by Russ Ladwa relating his own lived experiences of ethnicity and diversity issues and a personal account of how he dealt with these and how the BDA is working towards improving these matters within the profession.

Proposed New Branch Rules

At the AGM attendees were due to discuss a set of new Branch Rules to replace those which have been in operation since 1982. Unfortunately the number present to do this was not quorate for the purposes of amending the rules so these will be discussed at a future meeting.

Our remit

The west of Scotland branch of the British Dental Association is a voice for dental practitioners and members of the dental team in Glasgow and the south and west of Scotland. Our members are drawn from across the profession and work in general dental practice and hospital settings. Our council’s role is to look after the interests of our members and help provide guidance and support for anyone in need of day-to-day advice. The BDA is a not-for-profit trade union which is run by dentists for dentists.

CPD meetings

Our season of meetings is designed to provide members and guests with high quality CPD on a range of relevant dental subjects. The 2020-21 session features speakers who will focus on the GDC’s fitness to practise, Dental Politics during the pandemic and finally Endodontics  including oral medicine, radiology and endodontics. Attendance at meetings is free for BDA members. Non-members can book for a nominal fee which will be donated to the BDA Benevolent Fund. Take a look at this year’s line-up and book your place on our meetings page.

We would like to say a special thank you to our event sponsors who have provided a range of invaluable support  and helped us celebrate 100 years of the branch.
